English (Language and Literature)

'Reading makes a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exact man.' - Sir Francis Bacon

It is difficult to list accurately the texts that each university may require students to read prior to arrival. We have, therefore, listed the English departmental site at Oxford and Cambridge as a guide. The Library produces lists in certain areas e.g. fiction, poetry and standard works, which may also be useful. It goes without saying that your teachers will be able to give you advice.
